Vjačeslav Sochora
Vjačeslav (Slávek) finished his Ph.D. studies in 2013. The thesis, titled "Astrophysical processes near compact objects: studying extremal energy shifts from accretion rings", was delivered under supervision of Vladimír Karas. As the main result, a semi-analytical approach has been developed towards calculation of energy shifts of spectral lines from black-hole accretion discs (The Astrophysical Journal, Volume 725, pp. 1507-1515, 2010). Slávek has continued to work in our group as a member of StrongGravity EU Framework Program (FP7), and since 2015 Slávek moved on to a development position in industry.
Tomáš Pecháček
Tomáš spent his post-doctoral stay in our group from 2008 to 2013, working on stochastic variability of X-ray sources and Fourier power spectra from hot spots in accretion discs. Tomáš derived a mathematical way of characterising the power-spectrum profiles that exhibit multiple breaks and non-monotonic profiles. One of the papers was featured by Astronomy & Astrophysics journal (A&A 487, pp. 815-830, 2008). After Prague, Tomáš accepted a position at Silesian University.
René Goosmann
René spent his post-doctoral stay in our group from 2006 to 2008, working on radiative transfer models in the close vicinity of accreting supermassive black holes. In particular, René has contributed to the model of magnetic flares occurring above black-hole accretion discs and producing specific patterns of variability (A&A 475, pp. 155-168, 2007). After Prague, René accepted a position at Strasbourg University.
