The current issues of preparation for the attack on Iraq were repeatedly monitored by Public Opinion Research Centre after approximately half a year. At the present, a mere 28 % of Czech citizens would agree with the military conflict against Iraq, while in spring this figure reached as high as 39%. Support for a military operation without the mandate of the Security Council of the UN is considerably lower. In these circumstances, only 17 % of respondents would agree with this, while more than two thirds (69%) were against. This negative attitude is probably closely connected with the mistrust in meeting the targets, which such a procedure sets out to achieve. Only 24 % of respondents think that the military attack on Iraq could contribute to suppressing terrorism in the world, while 60 % do not believe in this kind of success.
