Popularity of Party Representatives
In February 2007 CVVM SOÚ AV ČR investigated whether respondents trust to selected top politicians. They were given a list with 24 names of top politicians. In a survey there were included names of membres of Parliament, president, chairmen of Senate and Chamber of Deputies, leaders of political parties in Parliament, ombudsman and chief of Constitutional Court.
Among the top state representatives the president Klaus is found most trustworthy, followed by ombudsman Otakar Motejl, who is trusted by two thirds of respondents (67 %). More than a half of people(55 %) confide in minister Parkanová, two fifths trust to minister Bursík (41 %). Only a little bit of Czech citizens expressed their trust to these politicians : chief of Constitutional Court Rychetský, chairman of Senate Sobotka (both 36 %), prime minister Topolánek (33 %), leader of ČSSD Paroubek (32 %), C. Svoboda (31 %) and ministers Nečas and Langer (both 30 %).
In comparison with results from previous surveys there was trust increase in these politicians : president (+ 7 %), chairman of Senate Sobotka (+8% points), leader of ČSSD Paroubek and ministers Gandalovič and Kalousek ( all +6 %) and minister Kuchtová (+7 %). On contrary trust in leader of KDU-ČSL Čunek has noticeably dropped (-19% points).
