Comparisons between Men and Women on the Job Market

More than a quarter of the population consider women to be definitely disadvantaged on the job market. Only one fifth of the Czech population think that there is no difference between the position of men and women on the job market. Both men and women think that the following groups are mainly disadvantaged: mothers of pre-school children, older women, women after maternity leave, people with a low level of education, physically handicapped people, and single mothers. As much as three quarters of women and two thirds of men ranked these groups amongst the five most disadvantaged. The difference between men and women was only in the intensity of choice and the order allocated to individual groups.
