This lecture highlights the concluding decade of the career of Johann Heinrich Alsted (1588-1638), once the professor of Jan Amos Comenius at the Herborn Academy. It will focus on the new findings with respect to the Art of Combination in the Alstediana. Particular attention will be given to Alsted's combinatorial Hebrew, Greek and Latin grammars and on his late versions of both the topical and combinatorial encyclopedias such as the Cyclognomonica oratoria, the Reformatio philosophiae and the Encyclopaedia digne restituta. The invaluable and little known manuscript sources will be also discussed which indicate the way how Johann Heinrich Bisterfeld (1605-1655) further elaborated the encyclopaedic projects of his master and father-in-law after the death of Alsted.
