Housenice pilatky Nemates melanocephalus jsou polyfágní a živí se listy různých druhů dřevin. Popsán neobvyklý případ lokální gradace v porostu vrby křehké (Salix fragilis) a srovnán vývojový cyklus v přírodě a v laboratorním chovu.
Larvae (caterpillars) of the sawfly Nemates melanocephalus are polyphagous and feed on leaves of various tree species. The author describes a local plague of the above species in growths of the Crack Willow (Salix fragilis) and compares the sawfly´s life cycles in the wild and in captivity.
