Organic Chemistry

In connection with the projects of the group, the topic of the Ph.D. project will be design and synthesis of novel types of nucleoside and nucleotide analogues as potential inhibitors of key enzymes of the metabolism of nucleic acid components. Emphasis will be placed on the selectivity of inhibition resulting from subtle differences in the active sites of enzymes of individual organisms. Biological activity of the prepared compounds, mainly antiparasitic (Plasmodium falciparum) and antibacterial (Mycobacterium tuberculosis), will be studied.
