The team of scientists from the University of Sheffield, including Prof. Václav Tesař, have received the 2009 Moulton medal for their paper entitled On the design and simulation of an airlift loop bioreactor with microbubble generation by fluidic oscillation published in Food & Bioproducts Processing, 2009. The medal has been awarded anually by The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IchemE) since 1929 for the best scientific paper in the field. »»»
The aim of the conference is to discuss contemporary problems of fluid mechanics and to bring out latest results obtained in the course of solution of grant projects supported by grant agencies in Czech Republic and abroad. The attendance of experts from the academician institutes, technical universities and from the other research institutions is assumed. Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) is widely used in the field of Reduced Order Modeling (ROM). Based on a large data set of a turbulent flow, a few POD modes are sufficient to characterize the dynamics of the underlying flow.
