This laboratory is interested in the functional and structural study of key proteins of different human pathogens and their interaction with cellular proteins and cellular machineries. The research projects involve protein engineering, protein purification, protein characterization, enzymology, NMR and X ray protein structure solution, isolation and analysis of complexes of cellular and pathogenic proteins, various molecular biology methods, and electron microscopy analysis. The close cooperation with organic chemists also enables to carry out multidisciplinary research focused on identification and characterization of enzymes involved in drug metabolism and testing of potential compounds. The Group is a part of Gilead Sciences & IOCB Research Centre and Systems Biology of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (SysteMtb), Collaborative Project funded by the Framework Programme 7.
