Urban mobility, CO2 capture and storage, integrated photonics and smart systems for personalized health-care were the four themes of interdisciplinary symposium EU-US Frontiers of Engineering that was hold from 17 to 19 October 2016 at Aalto University near Helsinki, Finland. About 60 outstanding engineers from Europe and the USA around the age of 30-45 years were selected to attend the symposium. The photonics session was co-chaired by Pavel Peterka from the Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
Physicist Marek Piliarik of IPE succeeded in the prestigious ERC CZ program which supports research, experimental development and innovation and received a grant of over CZK 40 million.
The main attraction of the International Training School on "Fibre Lasers and Fibre Optic Technology" were the lectures given by the leading European experts from both academia and industry, as well as by the "hands-on" laboratory exercises, during which they participated in the preparation of optical fibres or fibre lasers build-up.
Seminar/networking event 3BIO: Biophotonics and Bioelectronics for Biomedicine organized under the AV21 strategy will take place on November 25th, 2016. Registration deadline is October 31, 2016. Do not hesitate!
