The conference is focused on the current experimental and theoretical development of nuclear physics at low and intermediate energies - from the recent accomplishments of effective field theory approaches up to advances in multi-GeV region.

The conference is focused on the current experimental
and theoretical development of nuclear physics at low and intermediate
energies - from recent accomplishments of effective field theory approaches
upto advances in multi-GeV region. Particularly, electro-weak and hadronic
probes, few body systems, hadron dynamics, hypernuclear physics, exotic
atoms, meson production, and relativity in light nuclei will be among topics
covered.
The 2001 conference is the 8th in the series
of meetings "Mesons and Light Nuclei" held previously at Liblice (74,81),
Bechyne (85,88), Prague (91), Straz pod Ralskem (95), and Pruhonice
(98).

Mornings are reserved for invited and plenary talks. Invited talks are planned for 40+5 minutes each, plenary ones for 15+5 minutes ("+5" means 5 minutes for discussion).
Due to a large number of interesting contributions we organize three parallel sessions on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Contributions in parallel sessions will have 15+5 minutes format, as well.
There will be a poster session on Thursday afternoon. The posters will be introduced by short oral presentation (max 3 minutes, ie. max 2 transparencies).
Plenary talks, Parallel and Poster sessions will take place in the Conference Center of the Czech Technical University Hotel "Masarykova kolej".
Abstracts of the papers will be distributed at the registration.
Contributions presented at the conference
will be published in proceedings. We intend to publish the proceedings
with AIP Press. The acceptance of papers in the proceedings will be based
on the common journal refereeing system. Since AIP has rather rigid deadline
we strongly advise you to submit your contribution at the time of the conference.
We reserve 12 pages for invited talks,
4
pages for contributed talks and 2 pages for posters. The instructions

THE DEADLINE FOR THE CONTRIBUTIONS IS
1 SEPTEMBER, 2001.
Lectures and seminars will take place in the newly
restored
Conference Center of the Czech Technical University
Hotel Masarykova kolej
about 10 minutes by Metro from the city center.
The Conference Center provides good working conditions
for the meeting.
Beauty and exceptionality of Prague
need not be advertized.
Lunches and dinners will be provided at the Conference Center. Meals are included in the conference fee. Participants will be accommodated in:

Advanced registration accompanied by the
registration fee of 11 200 CZK
(290USD at current
exchange rate) is required.
THE REGISTRATION FORM MUST BE RETURNED BY 15 MAY, 2001.
An additional charge of 800
CZK (i.e., registration fee of 12 000 CZK
(currently 310USD)
will be required for all registrations and payments received after that
date.
The fee covers: conference registration, proceedings,
coffee breaks, lunches + dinners, evening concert, and conference dinner.
The fee for accompanying persons of 1400
CZK covers evening concert and conference dinner.
Delegates are asked to register as soon as possible.
Those who register will obtain the information
about methods of payment by email.
Czech Republic has formal visa waiver arrangements
with many countries. Citizens of the following countries do not need visa
for a short visit in the Czech republic (typically up to 3 months):
countries of EU, USA, Japan, Slovakia,
Hungary, Poland, Cyprus, Israel, Malta, Norway, Switzerland, Bulgaria,
Croatia, Romania, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Argentina, Ecuador,
Chile, Costa Rica, Mexico, South Korea, Singapore.
Nevertheless, we strongly advice delegates
to check with their nearest Czech Consulate or their travel agent as soon
as possible about visa requirements.

UNESCO World Heritage. Kutna
Hora is a picturesque medieval town in which silver was found and extracted.
In 14th century, Kutna Hora was one of the richest places in Europe, competing,
as for its importance, even with Prague.

Karlstejn castle (700

One of the most beautiful
Czech castles, founded in 1348 by the Czech King and Roman Emperor
Charles IV.
Prices are shown just for your information, the excursion will be paid during the conference.
No companion program has been foreseen so far, nonetheless, we are ready to organize extra sightseeing tours (Prague historical monuments, neighbourhood of the town) in the case of interest (please let us know).
During the week following the conference,
9-13 July, the XIVth
Summer School of Physics will take place in Prague.
The topic of the school is "Understanding
the structure of hadrons".
