DIRECTOR: Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague

The Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IOCB) is among the leading research institutes in the area of organic chemistry and biochemistry in Europe. The antiviral drug discoveries made by Prof. Holý and his team have resulted in a strong partnership with the pharmaceutical industry. This has guaranteed continuing financial stability, which enables to co-finance the basic research carried out at IOCB.

IOCB is seeking applications from exceptional candidates for the position of the Director of the Institute. The current staff of IOCB includes approximately 700 employees including 450 scientists working in 33 research groups and core facilities. The IOCB has an annual budget of approximately $40 million and represents a state of the art research institution, which has been largely transformed over the past decade, including a brand-new campus. The mid-term goal of IOCB in the next five years is to achieve excellence and meet the highest scientific standards in basic research in chemical biology and biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, organic chemistry, and computational/physical chemistry. Applicants must possess a Ph.D., or an equivalent doctorate degree in the area of chemistry, biology, or medicine, senior level scientific experience, and proven leadership in a major research institution. They are expected to present their vision on the direction and development of the IOCB.

On-site interviews (preferred option) or videoconferences with pre-selected candidates will take place on April 12th, 2017, 9 a.m. (local time, GMT+2) at IOCB Prague.

The position will be available from June 1st, 2017 for a period of five years.
