Department  of Personality and Social Psychology

Our research analyzes personality as an integrated whole of psychological characteristics (trait, cognitive, motivational) developing in the context of social relations and time. Individual research projects focus on cognitive and emotional processes and on behavior in the following areas:

a)  personality development in adulthood; preconditions of healthy development
b)  social and personality preconditions of stress; resilience to stress
c)  social and personality precursors of optimal intergroup relationships; psychological prerequisites
     of democratic spirit
d)  unethical and antisocial behavior in personality and social contexts.

The research themes and relevant projects are formulated with respect to their significance in the global context, the perspective of the institute, and our  scholars’ personal orientation. The themes and projects intertwine and involve cooperation with other departments of the institute. Besides contributing to the basic research, our results are applicable in practical programs and policies promoting quality of life, prevention of adolescent risk behavior, and harmonization of intergroup relationships.
