After graduating with a degree in Archaeology and Geology from Charles University in Bratislava, he defended his dissertation at the Institute of Archaeology and Museology of the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University in Brno. He worked as an archaeologist for the Research Centre of the Institute of Archaeology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Košice, and since 2002 has been employed at the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Brno, where he is a research assistant at the detached workplace in Dolní Věstonice.
 
His work focuses on the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic in Moravia and in the broader European context, specialising in the chipped stone industry from the viewpoint of technology, typology and spatial distribution. He has participated in field research carried out by the Centre for Palaeolithic and Palaeoethnological Research and also in rescue excavations in the region. He also lectures and works to popularise archaeology.
