Seeking understanding of the potential impact of Science 2.0 and the advantage of policy action was the goal of a public consultation from July to September 2014. Conducted by the European Commission it sought the opinions of a broad sampling of interested parties from across the EU research landscape. While open to all citizens, organisations and public authorities, the Commission identified several groups it targeted as respondents - universities and university associations, research performing organizations, research funding organizations, scientific libraries, academies, learned societies, scholarly publishers and intermediaries, and businesses in fields related to Science 2.0.
