Post-doctoral position in the Department of Galaxies and Planetary Systems

The director of the Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic announces a competition for a post-doctoral position in the Department of Galaxies and Planetary Systems. The successful candidate will work with Michal Dovčiak, Michal Bursa and Jiří Svoboda within the project "Geometrical properties of the accretion disc corona in Active Galactic Nuclei" financed by the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic. The research will mainly include modelling of relativistic effects near accreting black holes. Skills in programming languages and relativistic astrophysics are necessary and experiences in reduction, analysis and interpretation of X-ray data are welcome.

Candidates must hold PhD degree in the field and present a certificate by the date of employment. A necessary condition is to satisfy legal requirements for the employment in the Czech Republic (EU member state).

The position will start on the 1st of July 2017. The appointment is for 2.5 years but maximally by the end of 2019. Salary will be based on the usual domestic level.
