JOB DESCRIPTION

The research team Fibre Lasers and Nonlinear Optics at the Institute of Photonics and Electronics invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in the field of development of negative curvature hollow core fibres.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

The selected candidate will develop technology of negative curvature hollow core fibres and carry out research into their applications for giant pulse delivery and light­gas interactions. In particular, the candidate will be expected to perform design of fibre structures, to develop the technological process of their drawing and to participate in their testing in numerous applications.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, physics, optics, material science or similar,
  • strong publication record in the field of application, 
  • solid background in fibre optics, 
  • experience in modelling of fibre structures is advantage, 
  • experience in fibre fabrication technology is advantage. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

The initial period of employment is 1 year (with the possibility of an extension).

Postdoctoral Research Fellow Position in the Field of Optical Biosensors

The Institute of Photonics and Electronics v. v. i., in accordance with the Act No.283/1992 of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, as amended by the Act No. 420/2005, and in accordance with the Statutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in the field of optical biosensors.

 

Responsibilities and tasks
The selected candidate will carry out research into plasmonic and photonic aspects of optical affinity biosensors. In particular, the candidate will be expected to perform theoretical analysis of plasmonic nanostructures, to design and develop optical platforms for optical affinity biosensors and to participate in their evaluation for biosensing applications.

 

Requirements

  • Ph. D. degree in electrical engineering, physics, optics, or similar,
  • strong publication record in the field of application,
  • solid background in plasmonics and photonics,
  • strong experience in theoretical calculations and modelling of plasmonic and photonic nanostructures and in development of optical platforms for optical (bio)sensors,
  • experience in preparation and characterization of plasmonic nanostructures is of advantage,
  • ability to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team.

Terms of employment
