Rezervace Ithala na severozápadě Jihoafrické republiky je turisticky málo navštěvované, ale přírodovědně zajímavé území. V biotopech zahrnujících suché křovinaté lesy, travní společenstva, mokřady, galeriové lesy podél řeky Pongolo i zakrslé horské lesy na hřebenech skalních stěn a svahů je znám výskyt více než 300 druhů ptáků a více než 80 druhů savců. Mnozí velcí savci zde byli v minulosti vyhubeni, ale posléze úspěšně reintrodukováni.

The scientifically remarkable Ithala Game Reserve is located in the south-eastern part of South Africa and is not visited by tourists as often as some famous areas in the country. More than 300 bird species and over 80 mammal species occur in the dry shrub forests, grasslands, wetlands and gallery forest along the Pongolo River, as well as in pygmy mountain forests, on rock walls and slope ridges. Many large mammals became extinct there due to human pressure, but they were then successfully reintroduced.
