Microscopy for Biomedicine

The research of the group is focused on electron microscopy of biomedical samples imaged at high vacuum, thus required a specific sample preparation. A technique for quantitative imaging of thin samples using detection of transmitted scatterd electrons is introducing, that allows imaging of the structure of investigated objects at high resolution and simultaneous measurement of their local mass-thickness and mass, respectively. Microscopy and Microanalysis

The Laboratories are specialize to development of new instrumentation and methods for scanning electron microscopes. We make imaging of samples of various properties and specific requirements on their
observation (metals and alloys, composite materials and polymers, electronics materials, ceramic materials, natural and biological materials). We have experimental and theoretical activities related to imaging of specimens with
electrons of energy below 1000 eV, fit for high resolution imaging without metal coating. We do imaging in reflected and transmitted detection mode. Read more about Microscopy and Microanalysis

Microscopy and Spectroscopy of Surfaces

The group is engaged in scanning electron microscopy using slow and very slow electrons. Its activities are oriented toward the methodology, instrumental principles and compilation of unique elements of instrumentation for achieving a high resolution of images at electron energies down to units of electronvolts, and applications of low-energy microscopy in selected tasks in materials sciences and biomedical sciences. Electron Optics

The members of the group are engaged in the study of electron optical elements and systems from both theoretical and practical point of view, aiming at the improvement of electron optical systems. We have our own powerful programs for the computation of electromagnetic fields and their optical properties at our disposal, with user interfaces developed in cooperation with TU Delft, and programs from University of Manchester; we use the CAD system for the mechanical design. Thanks to the specialization of the team members (e.g. Read more about Electron Optics
