Guidelines for awarding the Fellowship

Eligibility

Grants of the Martina Roeselová Memorial Fellowship are open to Ph.D. students and postdoctoral researchers caring for a preschool child or children while actively pursuing a career in natural sciences at a university or at a non-university research organization in the Czech Republic.

How to apply

Applications in English must include:

• one-year research plan (one to two pages)
• description of the family situation and how the grant will be used (maximum one page)
• structured CV / resume including a complete list of research papers and conference presentations (maximum three pages)
• recommendation letter from the applicant's Ph.D. advisor or immediate superior.

Applications for the following year must be submitted by September 30 of the current year. Funding decisions by the Board of Trustees are made by November 30 and are based on the recommendation by the Evaluation Committee. All applicants are automatically notified of the decisions. The Board decisions are final.

Awarding the Fellowship

The Martina Roeselová Memorial Fellowship is awarded in the amount of CZK 120,000 for one year. The Fellowship will be paid in three installments.

The first installment representing 50% of the amount will be paid within 30 days of the signing of the Award agreement. The second installment representing 40% of the amount will be available after 6 months, on receipt of a report detailing the utilization of the Fellowship. The third remaining installment representing 10% of the amount is conditioned on the recipient providing a final written report within 2 months after the grant has ended.

Recipients agree that their name and other information with regard to the Memorial Fund may be used for promotional purposes.

Evaluation Committee

Applications for the Martina Roeselová Memorial Fellowship are reviewed by an independent committee. The committee forwards its findings to the Board of Trustees to make a final decision.
