RECRUITMENT - TWO NEW POSTDOC positions (deadline for application - July 27, 2017)

J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the CAS, v.v.i., offers:

*** NEW postdoc position available

in the group of Kočišek/Fárník at J. Heyrovský institute of physical chemistry in Prague, on the project "Reactions of organometallic complexes relevant for the ion beam cancer therapy". The goal of the project is to elucidate the importance of elementary electron and ion induced reactions in concurrent chemo-radiation therapy of cancer. It is highly interdisciplinary project that involves research groups from the field of chemical physics, chemical synthesis, and radiobiology. In our group, reactions of organometallic complexes, which are promising anticancer drugs, will be studied in clusters (see http://www.jh-inst.cas.cz/~farnik/).

Collisions of organometallic complexes with low energy electrons will be studied on the existing infrastructure in Prague (e.g. CLUB apparatus). Collisions of organometallic complexes with low energy ions will be studied at GANIL accelerator in Caen, France. Fragmentation of these ions will be studied by means of coincidence mass spectrometry. The obtained coincidence mass spectra and kinetic energy distributions of the fragments will be analyzed in the ROOT environment; therefore, at least basic programming skills are necessary. The experiments will be conducted in an international environment and the results are expected to be presented on the conferences worldwide; therefore, good communication skills in English are necessary.

Please submit (by e-mail) the completed application (form - see in attached file) till July 27, 2017 to:

*** Postdoctoral position - Experimental project on electron-molecule collisions

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the group of Dr. Juraj Fedor
at the J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic.
The postdoctoral fellow will work on the experimental project related to dynamics of ultrafast nuclear motion in molecular systems. One part of the project are cross section measurements for individual channels of electron scattering on molecules. Another part is the extension of the existing experimental infrastructure by the ion-imaging technique and pump-probe electron collision experiments.
The applicant must hold a Ph.D. degree in chemistry or physics. Previous experience with operation (and, ideally, design/construction) of laboratory instrumentation using vacuum systems and laboratory electronics (pulsing, signal processing) is required.
Interested individuals should send an e-mail containing application form with CV, brief summary of previous research, list of publications and names plus e-mail addresses of 1 - 2 references.

Please submit (by e-mail) the completed application (form - see in attached file) till July 27, 2017 to:
