Organic Chemistry

The goal of the Ph.D. thesis will be to design and synthesise new nonplanar polycondensed aromatic systems. We plan to develop new synthetic methodologies for preparation new molecules and materials of high complexity derived from helicenes stemming from [2 + 2 + 2] cyclotrimerisation of alkynes under transition metal catalysis with the special regard to the preparation of optically pure material. Apart from the synthesis, the Ph.D. thesis will focus on studying the features of new polycondensed aromatics mainly their self-assembly.
