Organization of satellite symposium NEUROINFLAMATION to the regional FENS meeting in Prague (2013)
Altogether 70 scientists from 17 foreign countries and 6 from the Czech Republic have attended the meeting as registered participants.
Neuroinflammation has gained a lot of attention in recent years as a leading cause of different disease processes in different organ systems. While the concept of neuro-inflammation transcends many different areas of neuroscience research, there was no dedicated forum in which to exchange research ideas and discuss the common neuronal mechanisms involved. This focused meeting provided an opportunity for the scientist working in neuroinflammation to share novel ideas and develop future collaborations.
The scientific program of the symposium was organized by several themes in which new developments in the field were presented and discussed by leading scientists from around the world. The invited speakers included: Sue Brain (UK), Christophe Altier (Canada), Jiri Palecek (Czech Republic), Nathalie Vergnolle (France), Nicolas Cenac (France), Peter Reeh (Germany), Istvan Nagy (UK), Linda Sorkin (USA), Erin Milligan (USA), Gaby Enzmann (Switzerland), Marc Suter (Switzerland), Marzia Malcangio (UK), Camilla Svensson (Sweden), Michel Pohl (France), David Fink (USA), Yves Boucher (France), Zita Puskar (Hungary), Halina Machelska-Stein (Germany), Francesco Ferrini (Italy), Jason McDougall (Canada), John Wallace (Canada), Zsuzsanna Helyes (Hungary), Magdalena Sastre (UK). The duration of the invited lectures gave sufficient time to the speakers to present their overall view of the topic and also enabled fruitful discussions in a friendly atmosphere with the symposium participants. Further presentations by the attendees of the symposium were organized in the form of short communications and posters.
