Abstrakt:

In the last four decades, the forefront research on the fundamental properties of space, time and matter (a field that, sometimes, goes under the name of ``quantum gravity``) has produced an enormous amount of fascinating hypotheses, theories, and conjectures, most of which raising unanswered questions. Among those questions, the quantum physics of black holes, and related Hawking phenomenon, is crucial. In this talk I will show how a recently discovered two-dimensional allotrope of carbon (graphene) could become an experimental playground for some of those ideas. In particular, I will describe how the well-known special-relativistic-like behavior of the low-energy electrons of graphene, can be exploited to make graphene a laboratory to test black-hole quantum physics.
