International Archaeology Day in the Institute of Archaeology, Czech Academy of Sciences Brno

This year again, the Institute of Archaeology in Brno joins the International Archaeology Day, which is announced by the Archaeological Institute of America (https://www.archaeological.org/archaeologyday), by organising its own programme.

We offer to the public four attractive encounters with our top specialists, directly in places where archaeologists work. Those who are interested can participate in free excursions which will take you to some of the most important archaeological sites in South Moravia.

Excursion through medieval monuments of Brno City

Excursion is guided by PhDr. Rudolf Procházka, CSc.
A walking tour of the city centre, through monuments we pass by every day, but also through those which are hidden under ground. The excursion begins with a visit to the crypt below the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul.
Archaeological excursion to Kopčany visiting the pre-Romanesque Church St. Margaret of Antioch
Excursion is guided by PhDr. Lumír Poláček, CSc.
An excursion to the only still standing sacred building from the time of Great Moravia. The programme will also involve a walk through the permanent archaeological exhibition in former Imperial and Royal stud farm in Kopčany.

Archaeological excursion to Hradisko near Mušov
Excursion is guided by Mgr. Balázs Komoróczy, Ph.D.
Guided walking tour of the Roman Period site on the educational trail to as far as this year’s excavations.
The Venus from Pavlov & International Archaeology Day
The exhibition dedicated to the Venus from Pavlov in the Pavlov Archaeological Park will be opened by Prof. PhDr. Jiří Svoboda, DrSc. The opening will be followed by guided walks through the exhibition. More details on http://www.archeoparkpavlov.cz/en/?langselect=1
