The goal of the Ph.D. thesis will be the development of synthetic methodologies for the preparation of complex π-electron systems such as extended helical aromatics. The attention will also be paid to the synthesis of their properly functionalized derivatives. Such unique molecules will be central to the systematic studies on their dynamic behavior, chemical reactivity, crystal packing, 2D self-assembly, chiroptical (and other spectroscopic) properties as well as charge or spin transport properties.
