Ion source with laser triangulation for ambient mass spectrometry of nonplanar samples
Scientists at IOCB Prague developed a new ion source for analyzing nonplanar surfaces under open-air conditions using mass spectrometry.
Josef Cvačka and coworkers designed a two-position device, where the sample height is measured using laser triangulation and the target
compounds are then analyzed using desorption electrospray ionization or desorption atmospheric pressure photoionization. Their experiments
showed good performance of the ion source offering rapid and/or high-throughput screening of samples in pharma, food, forensic, or industrial applications.
