Článek popisuje některé skupiny hmyzu, které jsou přizpůsobeny k životu v zimním období a můžeme je nalézt za určitých klimatických podmínek na sněhu i v České republice. Takto adaptovaný hmyz se označuje jako chionofilní. Jde hlavně o sněžnice rodu Boreus z řádu srpice (Mecoptera) a pavoučnice rodu Chionea z řádu dvoukřídlých (Diptera), částečně i o některé jiné zástupce např. dvoukřídlých, brouků nebo chvostoskoků.

The article describes some insect groups which are adapted to life in winter. Under specific weather conditions, they can also be found in the snow in the Czech Republic. These insects are called chionophilous. In particular, they include winter scorpionflies of the genus Boreus from the order Mecoptera (scorpionflies), also known as snow fleas, and snowflies or craneflies from the order Diptera (flies), as well as some other flies, beetles and springtails.
