The Czech Committee for Biophysics is a member of The International Union for Pure and Applied Biophysics (IUPAB). IUPAB was established as the International Union in 1966, when it became a member of the ICSU (International Council for Science) family. Similarly as in other scientific fields, the Czech National Committee for Biophysics was established by decision of the Academic Council of Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, as a member institution for the Czech Republic in the IUPAB (as a full member, called “Adhering Body“ is the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic), which for a specific job shall be appointed by the National Commitee. The main function of the national committee is to support research and teaching in biophysics.
