Israeli Minister of Science, Technology and Space at IOCB Prague

Ofir Akunis, the Israeli Minister of Science, Technology and Space visited Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry (IOCB Prague) on Monday, June 26, 2017 as part of the official visit to the Czech Republic. The minister, accompanied by Ambassador Daniel Meron and other members of the delegation visited during his stay in the Czech Republic three top research facilities: ELI Beamlines research facility, Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics of the Czech Technical University, and IOCB Prague.

IOCB Prague director Dr. Zdeněk Hostomský opened with an introduction of the Institute, how research is organized, and highlighted the accomplishments in medicinal chemistry. Prof. Pavel Jungwirth then outlined the discovery of causes and mechanisms of alkali metal explosions in water. The meeting closed with a tour around Dr. Pavel Majer's laboratory where the Israeli guests learned about current medicinal chemistry projects.
