Pruhonice Research Centre
The Laboratory of Paleomagnetism, Prague was originally established in 1960 as a part of Institute of Applied Geophysics, Prague by Miroslav Krs. It has been a part of the Department of Paleomagnetism, Institute of Geology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, v. v. i. since 1991. Situated in the magnetically quiet environment of the Pruhonice Park, the laboratory was built using non-magnetic materials to guarantee strict requirements of palaeomagnetic research.
Our team consists of highly experienced scientists with interests in palaeomagnetism, magnetostratigraphy, rock and mineral magnetism, geology and planetology. Our team is also supported by mathematicians and programmers who work on developing new laboratory techniques.
Our scientific team members are involved in numerous national and international co-operations. The laboratory is equipped with modern instruments for palaeomagnetic and rock magnetic studies. For more details, see Our Instruments.
