Organic Chemistry

Addition/cyclization reactions are an attractive strategy for the stereoselective construction of highly functionalized carbocycles. In contrast to traditional methodology, which employs mostly a single intermediate type or pericyclic reactions, the project will explore new ways of using multiple intermediate types like enolates, radicals and carbocations in a defined order to approach multifunctional carbocycles stereoselectively. This methodology should hold promise in the total synthesis of natural products.
