This article presents an analysis of the construct validity of the Right-Wing Authoritarianism (RWA) scale measured on a nationally representative sample of respondents in the Czech Republic. The authors – adhering to a paradigm of internationally comparative research – test whether the RWA scale, which was originally developed in the North American cultural milieu, can serve as a valid measurement instrument in a significantly different cultural environment.

Abstract:

Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to answer following question: what is the relationship between member activism performed through civil society organizations (CSOs) and individualized freelance activism (in form of online activism, everyday making, political consumerism or checkbook activism) independent of organizational framework? Is it a relationship of mutual competition or support?

S příchodem internetu se proměnila povaha sociálních vazeb a interakcí. Objevily se nové způsoby, jak utvářet sociální kontakty, prostory, kde je možné spolu komunikovat, ale i nástroje, prostřednictvím kterých tyto interakce mohou probíhat. Mezi nástroje, které přinášejí nové způsoby komunikace, patří i internetové sociální sítě. Autorka se zaměřila na nejpopulárnější z nich – na sociální síť Facebook.

The aim of this article is to present a trend in research on measurement error in survey data and to suggest some problematic aspects of this approach. The article describes the Multitrait Multimethod experimental design and its modifi cation into a 2 Split-ballot Multitrait Multimethod (2 SB MTMM), which is used for experimental data collection in the European Social Survey.
