Organic Chemistry

In collaboration with the group of Prof. Röschenthaler from the Jacob´s University in Bremen, Germany, we will focus on finding new synthetic approaches towards SF5 compounds. The SF5 group brings about some very unusual and attractive properties to its compounds; however, the synthetic access to them is very limited.1 In this project, the following synthetic approaches will be investigated: a) S-F activation of sulfur hexafluoride for the synthesis of SF5 compounds, b) deoxofluorination of sulfonyl fluorides with SF4, and c) direct fluorination of disulfides with F2, IF5 and PhIF2.
