Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Optical Biosensors for Medical Diagnosis and Life Science Applications

The Institute of Photonics and Electronics v. v. i., in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, as amended by the Act No. 420/2005, and in accordance with the Statutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in the field of optical biosensors for medical diagnosis and life science applications.

Responsibilities and tasks

  • The selected candidate will carry out research into optical biosensors for applications in medical diagnosis and life sciences. Specifically, the candidate will be expected to:
  • Design, develop and characterize functional biomolecular coatings and assays for optical biosensors for biomolecular interaction studies and detection of biomolecular analytes,
  • Apply the developed biosensors and assays to selected topics in medical diagnosis and life sciences.

Requirements

  • Ph. D. degree in analytical chemistry, macromolecular chemistry, polymer chemistry surface chemistry, or similar,
  • publication record in the field of biophotonics,
  • experience in research into functional coatings and methodologies for detection of biomolecular targets,
  • experience in biosensing and biomedicine is of advantage.

Senior Research Scientist in Optical Spectroscopies and Nanomaterials

Responsibilities and tasks

  • The selected candidate will establish a new research program on advanced optical spectroscopy techniques for life sciences that will complement current biophotonics research programs at the Institute of Photonics and Electronics.
  • Specifically, the candidate will be expected to:
  • Perform research on novel optical nanomaterials prepared by modern nanofabrication techniques,
  • Tailor the developed nanomaterials for the amplification of weak optical spectroscopic signals,
  • Apply the spectroscopic approaches and nanomaterials in life science applications, in particular, for detection of biomolecules and investigation of biomolecular interactions.

Requirements

  • Ph. D. degree in physics, optics, material science, or similar,
  • strong publication record in the field of (bio)photonics,
  • substantial experience in research in optical spectroscopies, nanomaterials, and optical biosensing,
  • experience in supervision of graduate students and/or postdocs, and
  • experience in securing competitive funding through research grants and contracts.

    • Spolupráce s finanční účetní, personalistkou, mzdovou účetní a managementem

    Požadavky:

    • Vysokoškolské vzdělání (minimálně bakalářské vzdělání)
    • Velmi dobrá znalost anglického jazyka (slovem i písmem)
    • Dobré organizační a komunikační schopnosti
    • Velmi dobrá znalost práce s počítačem a MS Office
    • Pečlivost, samostatnost a zodpovědnost

    • Participate in applications of these materials for optical spectroscopy-based detection and interaction analysis of biomolecules.

    • experience in research in optical biotechnologies.

    Responsibilities and tasks:

    The selected candidate will carry out research into optical biosensors based on plasmonic nanostructures and their applications for investigation of biomolecules and their interactions. Specifically, the candidate will be expected to:

    • carry out design of plasmonic nanostructures and platforms for biosensors based on optical spectroscopy of surface plasmons,
    • participate in preparation and characterization of plasmonic nanostructures,
    • develop and characterize new optical platforms for plasmonic biosensors,
    • participate in applications of these biosensors for investigation of biomolecules and their interactions.

    Requirements:

    • Ph. D. degree in electrical engineering, physics, optics, or similar,
    • publication record in the field of (bio)photonics and plasmonics,
    • experience in research into plasmonic (nano)structures and biosensors,
    • experience in development of optical systems for sensing.
