Senior Research Scientist in Optical Spectroscopies and Nanomaterials

The Institute of Photonics and Electronics v. v. i., in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, as amended by the Act No. 420/2005, and in accordance with the Statutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, invites applications for a Senior Research Scientist position in the field of nanomaterials for amplified optical spectroscopy.

Responsibilities and tasks

  • The selected candidate will establish a new research program on advanced optical spectroscopy techniques for life sciences that will complement current biophotonics research programs at the Institute of Photonics and Electronics.
  • Specifically, the candidate will be expected to:
  • Perform research on novel optical nanomaterials prepared by modern nanofabrication techniques,
  • Tailor the developed nanomaterials for the amplification of weak optical spectroscopic signals,
  • Apply the spectroscopic approaches and nanomaterials in life science applications, in particular, for detection of biomolecules and investigation of biomolecular interactions.

Requirements

  • Ph. D. degree in physics, optics, material science, or similar,
  • strong publication record in the field of (bio)photonics,
  • substantial experience in research in optical spectroscopies, nanomaterials, and optical biosensing,
  • experience in supervision of graduate students and/or postdocs, and
  • experience in securing competitive funding through research grants and contracts.

    We offer

    • interesting and challenging job in an international environment,
    • work in a large multidisciplinary research team,
