28th International Travelling Summer School on Microwaves and Lightwaves

The Summer School will focus on high-frequency electronics, communication technology, optoelectronics, optics, laser technology and microwave and terahertz technology. It is intended for postgraduate students, especially graduates of electrotechnical faculties of technical universities, microwave and high frequency electronics, but also for graduates of science faculties, physical electronics, or optics and photonics.

The school concept lies above all in the interconnection of high-frequency electronics and optics / photonics. Between the radio frequency band and the optical frequencies lies the area called the terahertz band, the area of frequencies with which the current technology does not know too much, which is called the terahertz gap. Managing this last "hole" in the frequency band is currently a great challenge. Here are the concepts of traditional electronics and optics, which until now represented entirely different worlds with different methodology and a view of physical reality. Both of these concepts in the terahertz zone fail, and the way forward only leads through the synthesis of both approaches. That's what the summer school is trying to do.
