Topic Cathepsin proteases in biomedicine
Faculty FPBT VŠCHT, PřF UK, 1.LF UK
Abstract

The project is focused on proteolytic enzymes of the cathepsin type that are critically involved in pathologies and are therapeutic targets. Cathepsins of human origin and those from pathogens and parasites will be investigated. The aim of the project is to analyze the structure and function of cathepsins and develop novel molecules for their regulation. The research in the field of biochemistry and molecular biology employs the following main approaches: functional proteomics and chemical genomics, recombinant protein expression, enzymology, protein crystallography, and molecular modeling.

The project will be conducted at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the CAS.
