Dolní tok Labe mezi Střekovem a hranicemi s Německem je poslední neregulovaný úsek velké řeky v České republice. Protože je diskutována možnost výstavby jezů, a tudíž nenávratného poškození tohoto území, probíhá zde výzkum různých skupin organismů. Měkkýši zde v minulosti zkoumáni příliš systematicky nebyli, proto je současný monitoring zajímavý. Podařilo se zaznamenat např. několik ohrožených druhů, jako škeble plochá (Pseudanodonta complanata) nebo vlahovka rezavá (Pseudotrichia rubiginosa).

The Lower Elbe between Střekov and the German border is the last uncanalized stretch of large rivers in the Czech Republic. Because the construction of weirs there has been discussed, the site may be irreversibly disturbed. Hence research on various taxa has been carried out there. Molluscs have not been systematically studied in the area, which is why the current monitoring is of such interest. Among other things, some threatened species, e.g. the Depressed River Mussel (Pseudanodonta complanata) or German Hairy Snail (Pseudotrichia rubiginosa) have been found in the study area.
