Laboratory of electron paramagnetic resonance (V. Laguta, M. Buryi, J. Rosa)

The research program is focused on the study of:
  • Intrinsic, impurity, radiation and light-induced paramagnetic-active defects in solids;
  • Physical properties of thin films and nanomaterials;
  • Local structure and dynamics of relaxors and disordered ferroelectrics;
  • Physical properties of new magnetoelectric materials, multiferroics and materials for spintronics.
In cooperation with technological laboratories, EPR laboratory provides EPR and NMR characterisation of new materials, including determination of impurity and defects concentration and stucture.

The purpose of our investigations is to discover the basic physical laws which govern the behavior of these systems and provide a key to the understanding of their macro- and microscopical properties and the discovery of new materials for various applications. Advanced Electron Spin Resonance, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and Electron Nuclear Double Resonance techniques are used for this purpose.
