CAS–ICS postdoctoral position
The Institute of Computer Science (ICS) of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS) invites outstanding and enthusiastic junior researchers, PhD holders, to apply for a postdoc position funded jointly by CAS and ICS.
Conditions
- Each position is of 12–24 months duration.
- Application deadlines: yearly 30. March and 30. August.
- Starting date: the following 1. July or 1. January.
- This is a full-time fixed term contract appointment. Part time contract possible if taking care
of a child.
- Monthly gross salary: about 36 700 CZK offered by the Czech Academy of Sciences.

ICS Director
AVAST Fellowship at the Institute of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, Czech Republic
The Institute of Computer Science (ICS) of the Czech Academy of Sciences in cooperation with AVAST Software (AVAST) is offering a fellowship for an outstanding and enthusiastic researcher, PhD holder, from all over the world, open to cooperation with some of the scientific teams of the ICS (www.cs.cas.cz) and with AVAST research teams.
This is a continuation of the AVAST Fellowship program, which started in 2014. As a recognition of its success, funding for a new fellowship was made available.
Focus
Are you interested in computer science, machine learning or data science? Are you attracted by applications in computer security? We are looking for candidates interested in basic and applied research motivated by the need to protect users from the increasingly sophisticated malware ecosystem. You will join a team of ICS and AVAST researchers and focus on developing strategies to combat malware proliferation. Promising methods you develop will be implemented in systems that protect and affect over 430 million users.
Publishing research findings through scientific reports, research proposals and scientific papers is envisaged, taking into account spheres of free and protected research specified by AVAST (due to the nature of the research and sensitivity of the data).
The Fellow will have an opportunity to contribute to a range of projects including machine learning applications in computer security and big data analysis of data collected from our global user base such as hundreds of millions of samples or network traffic statistics.
Conditions
The fellowship is of at least 12 months duration, a longer period based on the applicant´s research plan can be agreed during evaluation of the candidates. Prolongation is possible.
Starting date: January 1, 2019 or upon agreement.

- Be fluent in English.

Pracovní místo na projektu „Urbanizace předpovědi počasí, kvality ovzduší a klimatických scénářů pro Prahu“
Ústav informatiky AV ČR, v.v.i., vypisuje výběrové řízení na pracovní pozici doktorand (případně postdoktorand) v novém projektu Urbi Pragensi („Urbanizace předpovědi počasí, kvality ovzduší a klimatických scénářů pro Prahu“ s registračním číslem CZ.07.1.02/0.0/0.0/16_040/0000383 v rámci Operačního programu Praha – pól růstu ČR).
- Předpokládaná doba trvání projektu je 2,5 roku.
- Úvazek na pozici je 0,5 a v případě vynikajících výsledků je možné jej rozšířit až na 1,0.
- Náplní práce bude testování a úpravy meteorologických, chemických a mikroměřítkových atmosférických modelů pro potřeby urbanizace, práce na systémech přípravy vstupů a práce na výstupních a prezentačních systémech.
- Podmínkou je základní znalost programování v prostředí Python, Fortran nebo C.
- Výhodou je zkušenost s výkonnými výpočetními systémy, s paralelním rozhraním MPI a operačním systémem Linux.
- Nabízíme práci v mezioborovém vědeckém týmu (MFF UK, ÚI AV ČR, ČHMÚ) s velmi dobrou možností dalšího odborného růstu. Mzdové podmínky dle vnitřního předpisu.

- Monthly gross salary: about 30 000-50 000 CZK based on qualifications and experience.

ICS doctoral position
The Institute of Computer Science (ICS) of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS) offers fellowship for a promising PhD student with a view to create conditions for the fellow to write an outstanding PhD thesis.
Conditions
- The applicant must be a PhD student of computer science, mathematics or a related discipline.
- He/she has good prerequisites for scientific work which he/she can substantiate by concrete results.
- His/her PhD supervisor is an experienced, internationally recognized scientist.
- Application deadline: June 30, 2018.
- Starting date: August 1, 2018 or upon agreement.
- Fellowship is limited by 24 months duration or by applicant´s PhD thesis defense, whichever occurs sooner.
