J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry of the CAS, v.v.i., offers a postdoctoral position in the field of functional interfaces for low-dimensional materials

Requirements:

• PhD degree (obtained at the latest within three months after the starting date of October 1, 2018) in macromolecular chemistry, organic chemistry or related fields
• In case of the Ph.D. from different field, the experience with polymer preparation and characterization needs to be proven by publications in relevant impacted journals
• Minimum of 5 impacted publications
• Proven experience with Scanning Probe Microscopy based methods, Raman spectroscopy, UV-Vis optical spectroscopy
• Advanced level of written and spoken English

Job description:

The main task of the successful applicant will be to create and characterize organic interfaces and links between materials with different dimensionalities - mostly carbon-based (graphene, nanotubes, diamond). The prepared functional heterostructures will be tested for their performance in sensing and energy storage and conversion applications. The preferred duration of the contract is 51 months. Apart from the techniques mentioned in the requirements, experience with additional methods for thin film characterization is greatly beneficial, especially spectroscopic ellipsometry and techniques based on X-ray scattering.
