The red-light emitting phosphors get more and more attention in the recent years due to various applications, one of the most important of which is related to the solid state lighting and white light emitting diodes (LEDs). The currently used white LEDs suffer from the lack of the red component, which results in the high color correlated temperature (CCT) and low color rendering index (CRI).
