Představení postupných změn názorů na systematiku a fylogenetické vztahy chudozubých savců (Xenarthra) a některých dalších řádů savců - luskounů (Pholidota), hrabáčů (Tubulidentata) aj. Autor srovnává poznatky morfologické a paleontologické s moderními metodami molekulární biologie.

Traditional and new views of taxonomic classification and of phylogenetic relations within edentates, also known as xenarthrans (Xenarthra) and some other mammalian orders - pangolins (Pholidota), aardvarks (Tubulidentata), etc. are presented in this article. The author compares morphological and paleontological knowledge with results obtained by current methods in molecular biology in the mammalian group.
