Konference / Mon, 27/07/2015 - 08:00 to Sat, 01/08/2015 - 08:00

FQMT’15 is a follow-up to the four previous, successful Prague conferences "Frontiers of Quantum and Mesoscopic Thermodynamics". The title of the conference is traditional and reflects main topics of early FQMT conferences.

The conference is focused on

  • Non-equilibrium quantum dynamics
  • Mesoscopic and biological systems
  • Foundations of quantum physics
  • Quantum optics, cold atoms

Konference / Sun, 28/06/2015 to Fri, 03/07/2015

The series of International Conferences on Ferroelectric Liquid Crystals (FLC‘s) is devoted to basic and applied aspects of new self-assembling materials possessing chiral and polar structures and properties. These conferences have been organized in odd years in between International Conferences on Liquid Crystals.

Workshop / Thu, 05/03/2015 - 09:00 to Fri, 06/03/2015 - 18:00

Ad hoc workshops are small two days workshops organized by authors of the crystallographic software Jana2006.

Workshop / Mon, 16/02/2015 - 12:00 to Wed, 18/02/2015 - 12:00

With emerging of new microscopic techniques and their widespread use, appropriate sample preparation is still the crucial prerequisite for successful microstructural observation of bulk metallic samples. This involves the preparation of parallel planes with mirror-like surface or defined sample thickness reduction without damaging of surface layer for special applications. In order to demonstrate state-of-the-art development in this field, we organize a workshop in cooperation with Struers GmbH Praha and Carl Zeiss spol. s r. o.

Workshop / Mon, 01/12/2014 - 09:00 to Tue, 02/12/2014 - 18:00

This workshop explains usage of the general purpose crystallographic program Jana2006 for refinement of magnetic structures from neutron powder or single crystal data. Jana2006 includes tools for determination of magnetic symmetry from the symmetry of diffraction pattern as well as tools for representation analysis. It can find direct relationship between magnetic space or superspace group and corresponding representation and use it in the refinement.

Konference / Mon, 17/11/2014 - 11:00 to Tue, 18/11/2014 - 22:00

The goal of ESS science symposia held in various European countries since 2011 is to explore scientific challenges brought by current construction of European Spallation Source in Lund, Sweden. The symposium Future Engineering Diffraction Research in Materials Processing and Testing is organised by Czech-German team collaborating on the design and construction of new engineering beamline for ESS.

Workshop / Thu, 16/10/2014 - 09:00 to Fri, 17/10/2014 - 18:00

Ad hoc workshops are small two days workshops organized by authors of the crystallographic software Jana2006. This workshop is a satellite of the IWR14 - International workshop on Relaxor Ferroelectrics. The topics of the 23rd workshop are as follows: (INT1) Simple 3d structures; (INT2) Simple 4d modulated structures; (DIS) Disordered structures; (RIG) Application of rigid body; (TW) Twinning. Program details will be given in the workshop page.

Konference / Sun, 12/10/2014 to Thu, 16/10/2014

We are proud to host the first regular International Workshop on Relaxor Ferroelectrics in Stirin, Czech Republic, on 12–16 October 2014. The Workshop will will initiate a biannual worldwide discussion forum focused on the physics and applications of relaxor ferroelectrics, their structure, polar nanoregions, nanodomains, dielectric and piezoelectric properties, relation to structural and spin glasses, spectroscopic data etc.

For more information, please visit the Workshop website at http://palata.fzu.cz/iwrf14/.

Workshop / Mon, 30/06/2014 to Wed, 02/07/2014

It is widely recognized that the first-principles based calculations of strongly correlated materials are important for understanding physical and chemical properties. The quantitative materials theory makes remarkable impact on the modern technology. This workshop aims to disseminate the present knowledge in this rich and vivid field. We invite both theoreticians and experimentalists to discuss development and applications of the correlated band methods based on a combination of the density functional theory and the dynamical mean field theory.

Konference / Mon, 19/05/2014 to Fri, 23/05/2014

The idea of regular scientific meetings of physicist involved in studies of ferroelectrics and phase transitions in Poland and Czechoslovakia followed inevitably from the success of first such event in Blazejewko in 1979. The Seminar was organized in collaborating of the Department of Dielectric of the Institute of Physics of Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and Ferroelectric Lab of the Institute of Molecular Physics of Polish Academy of Sciences. The Seminars are an international forum for presentation of recent results, unconstrained discussions and initiating of joint studies.
