A search for the Standard Model Higgs boson in proton-proton collisions with the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. In the datasets collected at √s = 7 TeV in 2011 and at √s = 8 TeV in 2012 the decay channels H→ZZ(∗)→4ℓ, H→γγ and H→WW(∗)→eνμν have been investigated. Clear evidence for the production of a neutral boson with a measured mass of 126.0 ± 0.4 (stat) ± 0.4 (sys) GeV is presented. This observation, which has a significance of 5.9 standard deviations, is compatible with the production and decay of the Standard Model Higgs boson. The whole text »
High energy deep-inelastic electron proton collisions are the cleanest way to study the inner structure of the proton. The electron can probe the proton and its constituents via the electromagnetic interaction, much in the spirit of the famous Rutherford experiment. The electrons thereby send virtual photons towards the proton scanning its internal structure like an electron microscope renders the image of an object. The whole text »
The next generation of lepton colliders, such as the International Linear Collider (ILC) a jet energy resolution of the order of 3-4% at the Z boson mass is required for the clear separation of hadronic decays of the W and Z bosons. Within the ILC community, Particle Flow calorimetry has been identified as the most promising way to achieve this level of precision and was successfully tested on Monte Carlo simulations. The key factor in Particle Flow calorimetry is the single particle separability within a jet, which requires a high granularity of the calorimeters. The whole text »
Design, production, delivery and installation of the low voltage power system (LVPS) for the TILECAL hadronic calorimeter of the ATLAS experiment. In 2003 FZU was charged with responsibility for the LVPS project. CERN and Argonne collaborated on the project, most of the parts were designed and put to production by Czech engineers and most of the production was realized in the Czech Republic. The cost of LVS was 2 mil. The whole text »

Design, production and delivery of the high voltage power supplies to power 10 000 photomultipliers of the hadronic calorimeter TILECAL of the ATLAS experiment during years 1997-2004. Final production was done in the TESLA a.s. company in Prague. The whole text »
The production of 309 pieces of one tonne weight submodules for the hadronic calorimeter TILECAL of the ATLAS experiment. The production took place in 8 laboratories in Europe and USA (Argonne, Arlington, Barcelona, Dubna, Chicago, Pisa, Protvino, Urbana and Valencia). We have produced one quarter of the central part of the calorimeter. The whole text »
