Abstract: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging technique based on the nuclear magnetic resonance phenomenon. In this talk, I’ll outline the classical and quantum mechanical approaches to deriving the fundamental equations of NMR and explain some of the interesting physics and engineering that go into producing a final MR image. Time permitting, I’ll talk about applications of these techniques to in-vivo cardiac perfusion MRI.
