Wind flow around a wind turbine system: wind tunnel tests

Increasing popularity of “green energy” in Europe brings new and demanding research opportunities. The lecture summarizes the short-term stage in CET aimed at modelling the wind flow conditions around a model of the wind turbine. During the stage, we tried to tune up a representative Atmospheric Boundary Layer to describe surroundings of wind farms located in Europe. The
measured results comprise mean velocity, turbulence intensity and temperature changes upwind and downwind of the model in dependence on wind speed and hilly terrain. These results provide essential information to analyse the interaction between wind energy and the environment.
