Study of a nanosatellite concept (nanosat) for a technological demonstration of a mass spectrometer based on the CosmOrbitrap

Cecile BaronCécile BARON, Laboratoire de Physique et Chimie de l'Environnement et de l'Espace, Orleans, France

10.12.2018, 10:00 a.m.

Improving the performance of mass spectrometers is a major challenge for future in situ exploration mission of solar system's bodies' surface and environment. The CosmOrbitrap is a new high resolution mass analyzer developed by a consortium of five French laboratories and J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry (Prague) by R&T under the direction of LPC2E. This R&T was ranked as a priority during the last CNES prospective in 2014. The CosmOrbitrap will reach the TRL5 technology maturity level at the end of 2018. To get the next level of spatialization, a nanosatellite technology demonstration flight mission could be a way to be considered by the consortium.
