Improving the performance of mass spectrometers is a major challenge for future in situ exploration mission of solar system's bodies' surface and environment. The CosmOrbitrap is a new high resolution mass analyzer developed by a consortium of five French laboratories and J. Heyrovský Institute of Physical Chemistry (Prague) by R&T under the direction of LPC2E. This R&T was ranked as a priority during the last CNES prospective in 2014. The CosmOrbitrap will reach the TRL5 technology maturity level at the end of 2018. To get the next level of spatialization, a nanosatellite technology demonstration flight mission could be a way to be considered by the consortium.
