Specialises in the zooarchaeology and palaeontology of large mammals, including humans, from the Palaeolithic to the Modern Era. She is also involved in the application of geochemical and chemical analyses and DNA analyses.
After studying Geology and Palaeontology at the Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague, she went on to study a doctorate there (RNDr. 1998, PhD. 2005). Since 2000 she has worked for the Institute of Archaeology in Brno as an osteologist. She lectures in osteology for archaeologists at Masaryk University in Brno and at the Silesian University in Opava. She lectures in Geoarchaeology (together with D. Lisa) and Quaternary Paleoecology, including human evolution, at the Faculty of Science of Charles University in Prague. In addition to this, she works to popularise archaeology in the media and on the internet.
